We traditionally have auditions once a year and have no set number we’re looking to accept for training. CSzQC auditions are currently scheduled for Februray, 2011.
When are auditions?
Yes, we’re always looking for people with great personalities to join our team!
The following positions are now available (must be free weekend nights 6 - 9:30 p.m.):
Is there other employment besides as a player?
Keyboardist - We are looking for an accomplished keyboardist that can improvise
alongside our performers to create songs on the spot covering
many genres/styles of music.
House Manager - We are looking for an organized individual that can greet & seat
our loyal fans, handle payment at the door & coordinate finances
with our box office following the match, organize the seating
chart, coordinate audience issues with the Referee (birthdays,
announcements, etc.), help clean & maintain our space following
our matches, & assist our bartender as needed.
Stage Manager - We are looking for an individual to be an integral part of our
matches by running our booth. Duties include running lights,
sound, prepping the stage before/during our match, coordinating
the start of the match with the House Manager and Referee, and
also the possibility of announcing and running the scoreboard.
Please contact us at info@comedysportzqc.com, if you are interested
in joining our team!
Who can I bring to a CSz show?
Anyone. Seriously.
We are Rated E For Everyone and our target audience is ages 8 - 80, so the younger crowd and grandparents alike will all have a great time. Our matches feature clean comedy and we even have fouls in place to keep it that way!
Plus, we were voted Best Inexpensive Place to Bring A Date in the 2009 River Cities’ Reader Best of the Quad Cities poll.
Are you an actual sport?
Yes, we are. A sport, by definition, is any athletic activity requiring skill where teams or individuals engage in competition to attain a victory by points (or other forms of scoring).
That’s what we do.
Really?
Yes.
Do you ever have any special shows or events?
Yes! You can sign up for our e-mail list through our Online Form as well as stay tuned to our website, Facebook, & Twitter for updates as to when we will be having a special show or event. We launched our Black & Bluejeans long form improv show in February 2010, as well as debuted our Minor League! We also have our annual CSz Spooktacular in October.
Can we celebrate my birthday/anniversary/bachelor or bachelorette party at your venue?
Of course you can, provided you follow these simple guidelines:
• Please let our House Manager know what event you’re celebrating when you arrive at
the theatre. Reservations are highly recommended for parties & large groups.
• Due to health regulations, we do not allow outside food or drink into our venue - this
includes birthday cakes.
• We do not provide a serving staff, but you can pick up your food & drinks at our bar.
• In the case of bachelor/bachelorette parties, we ask that you keep in mind we have
audiences of all ages attending our shows. Therefore we ask that any inappropriate
attire or props brought into our theatre (you know the ones we mean) be removed
from view for the duration of the match.
• We reserve the right to cut-off service of alcoholic beverages to any individual or
group determined to be intoxicated to the point of being a nuisance to other patrons or
otherwise disturbing the match. Can’t we all just get along?
• Continued annoyance by an intoxicated or obstructive individual/group will result in
removal from our theatre with no refund. And no one wants that, so please drink
responsibly.
We ask that you follow the simple guidelines above so that everyone can enjoy themselves during the match.
Intern - We are looking for a college-aged, high energy, hard working individual to
join our team. Your duties will include assisting the House Manager, Stage
Manager, Bartender, & Referee as needed during our matches. While this
position is unpaid, the experience gained is invaluable as you will receive
improv training with our troupe & receive free admission to all our matches.
We are the longest running show in the Quad Cities, having been founded in 1990, and celebrated our 20th Anniversary in May & June of 2010. Be sure to visit our History page for more background information on CSzQC.
Don’t see your question below?
Send it to info@comedysportzqc.com & we’ll answer it!
Is ComedySportz® one word?
ComedySportz® is a registered trademark & is spelled as one word with a capital “S” in the middle and “z” at the end. The letters CSz are our initials and the worldwide acronym for ComedySportz®. The acronym for the Quad Cities team is CSzQC. You’re smart. You can figure it out.

How long have you been in the Quad Cities?
The Establishment Theatre does not currently offer any discounted general admission without it being part of a promotion.
Is there discounted admission rates?
Do you do shows all year long?
The competitive world of improv comedy has no off-season. We perform shows every Friday & Saturday night all year long - weather permitting. If the weather outside is indeed frightful, contact our box office to inquire as to the status of that evenings matches.
Do you serve food?
The Establishment Theatre offers a wide variety of menu options including pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, walking tacos, and much more. We also still serve Huckleberry’s Pizza at halftime of our matches.
So... what happened?
With the help of - & our eternal gratitude towards -DARI & the City of Rock Island, ComedySportz Quad Cities has renovated and officially claimed The Establishment Theatre (formally Rocket Theater) in The District of Rock Island as our new home. We officially resumed play there on Wednesday, November 24, 2010.
What was that tour I kept hearing about?
ComedySportz Quad Cities embarked on a Fundraising Tour alongside local charities and businesses to help raise funds for their organizations, as well as for needed renovations to our new home. This tour concluded in October. Our Touring Company is available for any upcoming fundraiser or event your organization is hosting.
While ComedySportz® is indeed Rated E For Everyone & provides family-friendly entertainment, we are not just an “improv for kids” show. We do regular performances for colleges, universities, bus tours, company parties, churches, and so many more - all while keeping our material clean.
Wait... isn’t ComedySportz® just improv for kids?
